Plain PDF Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-03

Plain PDF is a tool for merging and splitting PDF files. It is built so that your documents stay on your own device. This policy describes exactly what the extension does and does not do.

Your files never leave your device

When you merge or split a PDF, all of the work happens locally inside your browser tab. The extension does not upload, transmit, copy, or store your files or their contents anywhere. There is no server involved in any PDF operation, and the extension keeps working with no internet connection at all.

What we collect

Nothing about you or your files. Plain PDF has no analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers, and no telemetry. We do not build a profile of you and there is nothing for us to sell, because we never receive your data in the first place.

The one network request: your license

Plain PDF is a one-time paid tool with a free trial. To know whether you are on the free trial or have purchased a license, the extension makes a request to our payment provider, ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), which processes payments through Stripe. This request checks your license status only. It never includes your PDF files or their contents. Payment details you enter during checkout are handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe under their own privacy policies; Plain PDF never sees or stores your card information.

What is stored on your device

The extension stores a small counter locally (how many free operations you have used) and your license status, using your browser's extension storage. This stays on your device and is used only to run the free trial and unlock the paid version.
